Cornerstone
Het is alweer een fijn jaar geweest voor Arctic Monkeys. Ze waren aanwezig op de leukste festivals in Europa en brachten een opnieuw goed ontvangen album uit. Ongetwijfeld één van de meest gesmaakte nummers is deze “Cornerstone.” Het is een nummer dat werd geschreven met enorme fijngevoeligheid, getuige het erg lyrische tintje dat zowel reflecteert in de tekst als in de instrumentale ondersteuning.

Tiesto op onze homepage plaatsen als album van de week is zoals pralines meebrengen als geschenkje wanneer je bij iemand op bezoek gaat. Je kan er de mensen alleen maar gelukkig mee maken. Er is wel één groot verschil: met 8.99 euro kom je er bij een doosje pralines meestal niet van af. Bij ons wel, al bevat ons doosje geen chocolade maar wel 30 (!) overheerlijke nummers.

Future Equation Of Soul
Vintage
After vibrating organs and guitar foreplay arrives an explosion of soul. I am talking dark basement lounge music where cigarette air fills the room and musicians sing from old-styled microphones. The drummer taps away in the background like ?uestlove and I imagine the bass player chewing liquorice as he leads the melody. Check out Future Soul of Equation and their seductive song, “Vintage.” (DR)

For anyone into Interpol (the first album) or Sebadoh (the discordant rock bits, not the soppy ballads) try this band, from Switzerland. Although mostly instrumental, this track has a great vocal and sounds not totally unlike The Pixies. They’ve recently been collaborating with a girl group from Italy - which is maybe where the horses heads come in…(NM)
